OVERVIEW

Kailok the Hornsplitter is the final boss of Chapter 2 in Crimson Desert. As the corrupt leader of the Goldleaf Merchant Guild, Kailok wields a wind-infused sword and uses slippery evasive tactics to keep you off balance. Despite his goblin appearance, he hits harder than you'd expect. However, once you understand his key patterns, the fight becomes a controlled exercise in patience and timing.

Entering the Goldleaf Guildhouse triggers a cutscene that drops you straight into the fight with no warm-up β€” make sure your gear is ready before walking through that door.

PREPARATION

Gear:

  • - Refine your weapons at a Smithy before the fight β€” the extra damage noticeably shortens the encounter
  • - Visit a nearby Grindstone for a temporary Attack Buff that lasts for a set number of strikes. Activate it right before entering the Guildhouse
  • - Equip Sword and Shield (blocking and parrying are essential)
  • - Bring 50+ Grilled Meat for healing

Skills:

  • - Force Palm is mandatory for this fight β€” it creates your primary damage window
  • - Keep Abyss Artifact skills equipped and ready for stagger windows

CORE STRATEGY β€” THE PARRY-FORCE PALM LOOP

The entire fight revolves around two pillars: parrying his sword attacks and using Force Palm to stagger him after his counter.

Step 1 β€” Parry and Punish:

When Kailok swings his sword, parry the hit. After a successful parry, land two quick attacks while he flinches. Do not overextend with a full combo β€” he recovers fast and will attempt a counter.

Step 2 β€” Counter His Red Glint with Force Palm:

After your two hits, watch for a red glint on Kailok's weapon. This signals his counter attack. Fire off a Force Palm to stagger him and leave him wide open for burst damage. This is your primary damage window β€” unload heavy attacks and any Abyss Artifact skills you have.

Step 3 β€” Build the Stagger Meter:

Heavy attacks and Abyss Artifact skills fill the yellow stagger meter under Kailok's health bar faster than light attacks. When it's full, trigger the finisher for massive damage. Prioritize heavy attacks during every opening.

KEY ATTACKS AND HOW TO HANDLE THEM

Wind Slash (Ranged Projectile):

Kailok's signature move β€” a projectile fired in a straight line at you. Rolling backward is unreliable. Instead, dodge sideways and keep moving laterally until he closes in again. This attack removes a huge chunk of health if it connects.

Evasive Roll (Blindspot Leap):

When Kailok takes sustained hits, he performs an Evasive Roll toward your blindspot. The moment you see this, raise your shield to lock the camera onto him. This keeps him in your sights and lets you react instantly to any follow-up.

Unblockable Slam (Red Shield Flash):

Kailok's one unblockable attack. When your shield flashes red, he's about to leap into the air and slam down on your position. Do NOT attempt to block β€” it will break through your guard. A single dodge roll avoids the impact completely. He's briefly vulnerable after landing, so punish with a heavy attack.

LEARNING THE EVASIVE ROLL SKILL

This fight teaches you a valuable new ability. When Kailok performs his Evasive Roll, keep your camera facing him and hold the Interact button to absorb the technique. If you miss the observation window, you can unlock it by spending 1 Abyss Artifact instead.
